About Adam
Adam Gorsuch moved to Marshalltown in 1999 after growing up in California and has proudly called the community home ever since. He and his wife, Emily, have been married for 24 years and have three sons. Together, they have built a family rooted in the Marshalltown community, with softball becoming a big part of their lives.
Family and softball
Adam has been playing at the Marshalltown Softball Complex since 2005, getting his start in the second-shift league with the JBS Bull Dawgs. He remains actively involved in the game today, competing in both the 14” and 16” leagues while also umpiring throughout the season. He founded Nemesis Softball as well as the Scared Hitless 14” team and continues helping run the 16” team alongside one of his sons and the 14” team alongside another. His brother also plays alongside him, making softball a major part of their family’s life both on and off the field.
Adam credits Emily and his family for making his involvement possible. Their support and understanding allow him to dedicate so much time to playing, umpiring, and helping lead MSA. He knows he couldn’t give as much of himself to softball and the association without them behind him, and he is grateful for everything they do to support him.
Giving back to MSA
Over the years, many of the friendships built through MSA have become like family, with teammates and players forming lifelong bonds both on and off the field. Adam has served on the MSA Board of Directors for the past four years and was elected President following the conclusion of the 2025 season. During his time on the board, he has been heavily involved in league operations, community engagement, facility improvements, sponsorship efforts, and helping modernize the association through new systems and communication tools.
Adam also handles MSA’s website development and ongoing website management, along with its social media presence, including the Facebook page. From building and updating website pages to sharing league schedules, tournament announcements, photos, and association news, he helps keep players, teams, and the community informed and connected throughout the year.
A vision for the future
As President, Adam’s vision for MSA is to continue building a strong, organized, and community driven association that keeps adult softball thriving in Marshalltown for generations to come. His goal is to preserve the traditions that make the complex special while continuing to improve the experience for players, families, and the community. He believes the softball complex is more than just a place to play games. It is a place where friendships are built, families spend time together, and the community comes together through a shared passion for the game.
If you see Adam around the complex, whether he is playing, umpiring, or helping behind the scenes, he is always willing to answer questions, help solve problems, and do whatever he can to help make MSA a positive experience for everyone involved.
